- Strengthen the evidence base for drug policy by bringing together empirical research, policy analysis, comparative perspectives, and lived and professional experience.
- Examine not only what drug policies are, but also how they are developed, implemented, negotiated, and experienced in practice.
- Translate academic research into accessible knowledge that can inform policymakers, practitioners, social organisations, researchers, and the wider public.
- Develop critical and constructive approaches to the social consequences of drug policy, including stigma, inequality, social inclusion, welfare, punishment, care, and rehabilitation.
- Create dialogue between Chinese drug policy research and international scholarship while recognising China’s distinctive historical, institutional, cultural, and political contexts.
- Support emerging scholars and encourage greater interdisciplinary engagement with drug policy and governance research.
The China Drug Policy and Governance Platform (CDPGP) is an independent research platform dedicated to advancing evidence-based, critical, and interdisciplinary research on drug policy and governance. The Platform also promotes research on the social inclusion, social integration, and rehabilitation of people who use drugs, alongside broader questions of addiction, recovery, and the ways in which these experiences are shaped by systems of governance.
